The NAHL Northeast Generals are excited to announce that 2 year Forward Jonathan Young has committed to play College hockey at St. Olaf. The 6’2, 201 pound left wing, came to the Generals in a mid season trade during the 2019-2020 season. In 19 games during his first year Jonathan scored 7 goals and added 5 assists. His mark was made and set up a big year for 2020-21.
In 56 games during the 20-21 campaign Young registered 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points. He also had an outstanding 14 Power Play points. He led the Generals in several categories, Goals (15), Points (42), and Power Play Points (14).
“Jonathan was a truly amazing member of the Northeast Generals. He has been blessed with size and speed. He came to us with a few knocks on his game as far as the D zone, the half wall and shift intensity. But we saw a player fully buy in to being a great great hockey player. He became one of our best defensive forwards. Was awesome on the half wall and played each shift at 100% from start to finish. Just a great transformation into a 200 foot player that was a great player in all situations.” Said Head Coach Bryan Erikson.
GM Matt Dibble added “This is a tough one. St. Olaf is getting a great player and is a very good program. We think Jonathan is a slam dunk D1 player in any other year but the situation is what it is. He did everything Bryan, Eric and I asked of him and more. Just a great hockey player and kid. Happy for his next step.”
