The Northeast Generals are incredibly proud to announce that Defenseman Luke Perunovich has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at Providence College.
Perunovich is another NA3HL success story. He was signed as a tender by the expansion Generals before the 2016-17 season after playing for the Twin City Steele (now New Ulm Steele) in 2015-2016. Luke made an immediate impact on the Generals blue line as he played all 60 games in their inaugural season, putting up 16 points.
After the team struggled to win games last season, Perunovich has been a huge factor in the Generals turnaround. Luke has 3 goals and 25 assists for 28 points through 59 games this season.
“Luke has been exactly what we want our players to be. He endured, with a lot of our veterans, a very tough year (4 wins in 16-17). But he came back improved and ready to help the team. He has been a big reason why we have turned the franchise around and made the playoffs this year. He is such a great kid off the ice. He is just a kid you root for and hope he has success because of his personality and work ethic” said GM Bryan Erikson.
“We are very proud of Luke and all he has accomplished. He is the type of kid we look for when deciding who will wear the Generals uniform. We wish him the best of luck next year at Providence.” added Head Coach Joe Lovell.
