The Northeast Generals have their first 3-game winning streak since late October with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Rochester Jr. Americans on Friday night.

Will Mizenko picked up his second shutout of the season and 19th victory, turning aside all 26 shots faced. The Generals outshot Rochester 48-26 throughout the night, marking the sixth straight game they’ve outshot their opponent.

Special Teams were a driving factor with Rich Rucireto scoring a pair of power-play goals, and the penalty kill was a perfect 4/4. This was the second straight game that Rucireto scored multiple goals and is now up to 14 points (6g-8a) in 11 games this season.

Logan Poulin scored his team-leading 20th of the season, and Mikey Bartkowski added a late third-period goal, his first since returning from injury, to complete the 4-0 score.

The Generals are now just three points back of the Maine Nordiques, who sit in third place, and nine points back of Rochester in second.

The Gens and Jr. Americans will wrap up their season series tonight with puck drop scheduled for 5:30 pm. The Generals currently hold a 3-2 series lead.
