Generals Win Divisional Awards

May 1, 2018

The Northeast Generals are excited to announce that they have won 4 East Divisional Awards.  Colin Bilek took home 2 well deserved awards!  The first one was being named to the All East Division team for his exceptional season.  Colin finished with 19 goals and 33 assists for 52 Points.  Colin also won the Divisional Leadership Award who is given to the “player, on your team, judged to be an outstanding leader through on-ice performance, motivation of teammates and a dedication to community activities.”

“Colin was the backbone of our team for 2 years.  We went through a tough year last season but he held the group together.  He came back extremely motivated and had an amazing season for us.  He deserves these awards.  The award we are most proud of is his Leadership Award.  Colin is the best Captain I have ever seen.  Joe (Head Coach Joe Lovell) and I laugh at the stuff he does.  We will be in our office getting ready to address the team and walk in and Colin has the boys so ready to go we don’t even need to say anything.  He blocks shots with 30 seconds left in a blowout game.  He just does everything.  He is just an amazing kid.  Really a special person. West Point is getting a great player and more importantly a great person.”  Said GM Bryan Erikson.

As for the other awards the Generals were able to grab Coach of the Year with Joe Lovell and GM of the year with Bryan Erikson.

“Joe has done an amazing job in the short time that he has been there.  We knew when we hired him that he would do a good job but he has exceed our expectations on just how quickly he has been able to turn around the program.  Joe has a great rapport with the kids and his ability to mentor and teach is very special.  continued Erikson.

As for GM of the year Erikson had this to say “really proud of the work our scouts have done.  Rob Liberatore has done a tremendous job as our Director of Scouting.  He has a great relationship with coaches and scouts in the area and has brought in a ton of high end talent.  Also Cory Hunt our Director of Midwest Scouting has done a great job of getting us top talent from Minnesota and that area.  He has brought us some great players like Ko Sato (UNH), Louis Boudon (Lake State), Justin Jallen (Brown) and Luke Perunovich (Providence) to name a few.  And Cody Gonyeau in Michigan has done a great job so far this year.  Already getting us Trent Harsma who looks to be a great player for us to build on for next year”

Overall the success the Generals had on the ice is paying off so far in Awards season.  The Generals have camps starting soon and look forward to getting the team together for 2018-2019!
