The Northeast Generals are excited to announce that we have signed St Paul Academy Defenseman Jake Hosszu to a tender for the 2020-2021 season.
The 2002 Minnesota native has been a standout for the Spartans over his 4 year career helping to earn him the Captaincy this year. In 107 career games the skilled blue liner has 20 goals and 36 assists for 56 points. Jake has had a breakout year so far this season with 10 goals, 6 assists for 16 points in just 12 games.
“Jake is a high quality player that I have been watching for a long time. I first noticed him as an 8th grader on the varsity team while scouting former General Justin Jallen. His development has really taken off the past two years. He had a great start of the year with the Des Moines Buccaneers 18AAA before heading back to St. Paul Academy for his senior year, where he has dominated his opposition from the blue line. Jake is a big offensive threat while also being a solid defender who opponents struggle against. He is a captain for his team, hard worker and does well in the classroom. I am looking forward to watching Jake the remainder of his senior season and his continued hard work in the offseason at the prestigious MAP South Hockey program.” Said Cory Hunt, the Minnesota based Director of Player Personell.
Said Generals Head Coach and GM Bryan Erikson “Jake is a high level player and person. We have had a lot of success with Spartan players with Justin Jallen, Noel Parker and Cullen McCabe. We think Jake will bring great vision and a strong work ethic to our team next year. We like to activate our D a lot and make them part of our offensive attack and Jake will fit in perfectly. Really excited for Jake to join the Generals as we have had our eyes on him for several years.”
