The Northeast Generals of the NAHL took part in the 2020 NAHL Entry Draft on Tuesday, July 22nd. With a large veteran core in place the Generals were able to draft high end talent both up front and on the blue line that should help the Generals compete for a spot in the Robertson Cup.
In round 1 the Northeast Generals went north of border to Canada to select 2002 Forward Matthew Duarte. The 6’3″ forward brings speed and physicality along with 2 years of Junior experience in the OJHL to the team.
Round 2 saw the Generals go down an unusual path selecting Bowdoin College freshman Andy Stoneman. The 2000 Forward played with current General Tyler Cooper at Shattuck St. Mary’s before having a successful season in the USHL and NAHL before heading to Bowdoin. But with the uncertainty of the College season Stoneman decided to play his last year of Junior eligibility with the Generals.
With no pick in Round 3 the Generals headed back North in Round 4. The Generals selected 6’1, 2001 D man Ryan Mulholland. The smooth skating D man has played 2 years of junior hockey in the OJHL.
Round 5 the Generals went local selecting 2002 Forward Ryan Corcoran from Duxbury, MA who starred for the Boston Advantage.
Round 6 saw the Generals select former Skipjack and Ct. Junior Ranger forward Zach Lindewirth. The smooth skating 2000 forward brings a wealth of junior experience to the team and the ability to create offense.
In round 7 the Generals went local again, selecting Tabor Academy Forward Jake Cady. They 2001 Raynham, MA native starred at Tabor as one of the Captains and is a hard working, slick forward who brings a ton of skill to the Generals.
Round 8 saw the Generals continue to go local with dynamic forward Dhillon Wilde from the Islanders Hockey club. The 2002 Forward has a great motor, blazing speed and a high hockey IQ.
In round 9 the Generals selected Lynnfield, MA native Will Rinaldi. The 2002 Forward played at Selects Academy where he scored 50 goals over the past 2 season.
In round 10 the Generals selected slippery D man Tyler Behl from Honeybaked. The 2002 D man was a standout at the Columbus NAHL Combine and did a great job to get on the Generals radar. The smooth puck moving D man will add depth to a solid defensive core.
And finally the Generals selected fan favorite Carson Asper in Round 11. The 2 year NA3HL General was a menace as usual in 2019-20 and will bring his edge and goal scoring ability to the NAHL team the upcoming season.
