The Generals traveled back to Rochester to face the Jr. Americans once more over the
weekend, splitting the weekend series with a 5-1 victory on Friday, Nov 17 and a 2-3 loss on
Saturday, Nov 18.
Rochester jumped ahead first in game one of the weekend in the first period, before
forward Frank D’Ancona scored his 12th goal of the season for the Generals to make it 1-1 after
one. Forward Joey McGraw took advantage of the powerplay for Northeast, potting his sixth of
the season to make it 2-1 heading into the third period.
The Generals piled it on in the third, scoring three straight powerplay goals as the special
teams units came out firing. Forwards Sixten Jennersjo (his fourth), Ryan Remick (his 12th), and
Jacob Wilson (his fourth) were the goal scorers in the period to give the Generals their 5-1 lead,
which stayed the final score. Goaltender Peter Wickström Stumer, the newest addition to the
Generals lineup from the Kenai River Brown Bears, made 30 saves on 31 shots in his first game
and win for Northeast.
Game two saw the Generals jump ahead early in the first thanks to forward Thomas
Klochkov’s fourth and defenseman Nick Recupero’s third goals of the season to make it 2-0 after
the first. Rochester then responded in the second with three straight unanswered, including two
powerplay goals, to jump ahead 3-2. The Generals battled in the third, outshooting Rochester
11-3 in the period, but were unable to mount the comeback with the final staying at 3-2.
Goaltender Toby Hopp stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced in net.
The Generals continue the road stand through the rest of November, visiting the New
Hampshire Mountain Kings on Wednesday, Nov 22, before visiting the Maine Nordiques for the
first time since the season opener in September, as they travel north for a weekend series
Saturday, Nov. 25 and Sunday, Nov. 26.
