Generals’ offense explodes for 7 goals, defeat Danbury 7-1

The Generals came out firing on all cylinders on Tuesday, Dec. 12, taking down the Danbury Hat Tricks at home 7-1 in their final home game in the month of December. 

 

The Hat Tricks were the first to strike in the game, with Danbury scoring on their first shot of the game on a redirect in front to jump ahead 1-0 only two minutes into the period. Neither team could find the back of the net for the remainder of the period, with Danbury sitting ahead. It took only two minutes into the second period for the Generals to finally respond though.

 

Defensemen Nick Recupero scored a wrister from the blueline immediately after the powerplay ended to tie the game at 1-1, before forward Joseph McGraw, who recently committed to West Point, scored four minutes later for his eighth goal of the season, to give the Generals the lead at 2-1. Northeast laid the pressure on in the period, with forward Jett Otwell finding the twine for fifth of the year seven minutes in. Forward Andrew Delladonna rounded out the second period onslaught with his fourth goal of the season 14-and-a-half minutes into the period, ending the second period ahead 4-1.

 

Defensemen Matt Despirit found his first goal of the season 55 seconds into the third period on the powerplay to push the Generals lead to four, before Recupero found his second of the game six-and-a-half minutes into the third to jump ahead 6-1. Recupero’s goals were his fifth and sixth on the year. Forward Ben Campeau finished off the win with his 10th goal of the year with 4:34 remaining in the game on the powerplay, finishing the win with a 7-1 final. 

 

Six different players for the Generals recorded multi-point nights in the win, with 14 different players recording at least one point. Goaltender Peter Wickström-Stumer recorded his second straight win, saving 30 of 31 shots for his fifth win as a General, and eighth on the NAHL season.

The Generals will take a break for the Holidays before returning to action on the road against the Johnstown Tomahawks for a weekend series on Saturday, Dec. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 31. Their next home series will be in the new year, starting with a visit from the Philadelphia Rebels on Friday, Jan. 5 and Saturday, Jan. 6.
