The Generals were not able to mount the comebacks against the Philadelphia Rebels on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21, falling 5-4 and 5-3 in the road series.
The Generals struck early in game one thanks to forward Jett Otwell’s third goal of the season, but the Rebels responded with two unanswered in the first to make it 2-1 through one. Scoring another two in the second to make it 4-1, the Generals tried to mount the comeback late in the second and start of the third, with Defensemen Emerson Miller’s second goal of the season in the second period, and forward Ryan Remick’s ninth goal in the third to make it 4-3. The Rebels scored with 4 minutes remaining to make it 5-3, before captain forward Sixten Jennersjo scored his second of the year with a 1:11 remaining to make it 5-4, which stood as the final. Goaltender Toby Hopp stopped 14 of 18 shots before being lifted for Marks Slavinskis-Repe, who saved 20 of 21.
Game two saw the Rebels step out in front early, making it 1-0 after the first, and 2-1 through two after Remick scored his team leading tenth goal of the year. The goals would go back and forth in the third, with each side responding to each other’s goals. The Rebels were able to outlast the Generals onslaught, even with goals from forwards Will Reardon and Ben Campuea, both their fourth of the season. The Rebels would walk away with the win 5-3, as Slavinskis-Repe stepped in between the pipes and saved 28 of 33 shots.
The Generals travel to Rochester to take on the Jr. Americans in the last weekend of October, starting on Friday, Oct. 27 and playing through Saturday, Oct. 28.
