Generals fall in road trip to Danbury

The Generals were swept in a series for the first time since their road trip to Johnstown at the end of December this weekend, falling 4-0 on Friday, Jan. 19th and 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday, Jan. 20th against the Danbury Hat Tricks.

 

Game one on Friday saw the Hat Tricks jump ahead early against the Gens, scoring three in the first period to make it 3-0 before the end of the period. Danbury totaled another early in the second to make it 4-0, which stood as the final score, with the Generals offense not being able to dig out of the early hole. Goaltender Toby Hopp received the start, stopping 27 of 31 shots in the loss.  

Game two saw a much closer affair between the two eastern division squads. Danbury stepped out ahead early once more, scoring two in the first period to jump ahead 2-0 after one, before forwards Joseph McGraw and Ben Campeau scored their 14th and 12th goals of the season respectively to tie the game at two apiece in the second period. Danbury scored late in the second to retake the lead at 3-2 after the second period. Forward Ryan Remick scored only 34 seconds into the third period to give him his team leading 19th goal, and tie the game at 3-3. Neither team found the back of the net through the rest of the period, sending the game to overtime. Even through the extra time, neither team secured the win, sending us to a shootout. Danbury found the back of the net on their second and third attempts, with the Generals only finding one, falling 4-3 in the shootout. 

Goaltender Daniel Antal received his first career NAHL start with the Generals, knocking away 17 shots on 20 attempts in the shootout loss. Forward Sixten Jennersjo assisted on each goal in the game, and scored the lone shootout goal.

The Generals are back home this weekend, as the New England Sports Village will host the Rochester Jr. Americans on Friday, Jan. 26th at 2:30 PM EST and Saturday, Jan. 27th at 6:00 PM EST in Rochester’s first visit to Attleboro in franchise history.
