The Northeast Generals, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are excited to announce the tender signing of Forward Vinny DeSanctis of the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders U18 team for the 2018-2019 season. DeSanctis, drafted by Barrie in the 2016 OHL Draft, is a gritty 2 way player. Standing at only 5’8, Vinny plays much bigger than his size. “He is a relentless forechecker and throws his body around on every shift. He is a player that has a ton of offensive skill but also understands how to play in all 3 zones.” said GM Bryan Erikson.
DeScanctis, from Howard Beach, NY, has spent the last 3 years playing for the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders in the USPHL. His hard hitting style, speed and compete level are a natural fit for the Generals. “Vinny is one of the strongest skating 2000 forwards in the United States. He is a physical player who is strong on the puck and possess a heavy shot.” P.A.L. U18 Coach Bob Thorton.
The Generals have also affiliated Vinny with the chance to bring him up to see him play for the team this year.
“We are extremely excited to have a player of Vinny’s ability and character in the organization. We think he will make a big impact on Day 1.” according to Generals Head Coach Joe Lovell.
The Northeast Generals play in the North American Hockey League in Attleboro, MA at the New England Sports Village.
