The Northeast Generals are excited to announce that Goaltender David Fessenden has committed to play hockey for the University of Alabama-Huntsville for the 2019-2020 season. The UAH Chargers play in the WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) NCAA Division 1. The Chargers have helped 2 players move on to the NHL (Jared Ross and Goaltender Cam Talbot).
Fessenden will begin his 3rd year with the Generals in less than one month. The 6’6″ goalie has been outstanding both on and off the ice since being acquired as a free agent in October of 2016. “David has been with us almost since the beginning. He had to endure a lot being the goalie on a 4 win team 2 years ago but never wavered in his love of the Generals. He bought in 100% on day 1 and shared the organizations vision of building towards the future. He is one of the main reasons for our dramatic improvement this past year. This commitment is a testament to all the hard work he has put in on and off the ice. He is a truly amazing young man.” said GM Bryan Erikson.
“David is a great kid. He has the gift of size but it is the work he has put in that has helped seperate him. He dropped close to 50 pounds by working all summer (2017) with Phil (Currier of APT) our Strength and Conditioning Coach. He also comes up early and works with Steve Mastarelz, our goalie coach (GDS Goalies), all summer and it has paid off. We are extremely proud of him and his commitment to Alabama Huntsville.” Head Coach Joe Lovell.
“We feel that with the work he has put in he will be ready to help the Chargers right away. We couldn’t be prouder or more happy for him. We can’t wait to see him play at the next level!” added Erikson.
