Northeast Generals Forward Tyler Cooper has been named to the All-East Division Rookie Team.
The first year Forward had a great opening season in the NAHL after a standout career at the prestigious Shattuck-St’Mary’s school. The Generals tendered the 2000 Right Wing after a 44 point senior season.
Tyler made an immediate impact on the Generals, scoring the first goal of the season for the team in the opening game. Tyler’s impact would continue as he would finish his first NAHL year with 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points in 46 games. 4 of his goals were on the Power Play.
Cooper missed 4 games in the middle of the season as he was named Captain of Team Great Britain at the U20 World Junior Championships. Tyler finished with 2 goals and 2 assists in 5 games on the world stage.
“Tyler was even better than advertised. One of our Minnesota scouts Mike Sadjadi brought Tyler to my attention and we liked him a lot. But his impact was far greater than we expected as a first year player. He came in ready to go from Day 1 and impressed at Training Camp and took off on Day 1. He is such a great kid, works his tail off everyday and is just a great hockey player. He will have a ton of NCAA Division 1 opportunities next season and we can’t wait to see his impact in year 2.” Said Generals Head Coach Bryan Erikson.
“Tyler bought in completely to our organization. He was one of the first kids to volunteer for Community Service events. Brought a smile to the rink everyday and was just a huge presence on and off the ice for us. He has a ton of ability and we can’t wait to see what he brings to us next year.”
