The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League are proud to announce the tender signing of Boston Advantage standout Jonny Hammel.
Jonny has played for Lovell Hockey for many years as did his older brother Matt (who was also a member of the Generals). During his time with Lovell Hockey’s Boston Advantage program Jonny has been coached by Tim Lovell who has helped him take his game to the next level.
Last season Hammel Committed to play his College hockey at Holy Cross where he will join former General and Advantage standout Mike Higgins.
“We are extremely fortunate to be able to sign Jonny to a tender. He is a great kid from a great family. He also joins a long line of Lovell Hockey and Boston Advantage players that have jumped to the Generals. We love getting Lovell Hockey players. Because they are all so well coached they all are great skaters, great teammates, good in the D zone and have high hockey IQ’s. Jonny is no different. He plays a very NAHL type of game. He is very willing to go battle in the corners and has a ton of skill to put the puck in the net as well. We look forward to Jonny wearing the Generals uniform.” Said Generals Head Coach Bryan Erikson.
The affiliation between the Generals and Lovell Hockey remains one of the best in Junior Hockey. As Hammel is among the 20 plus players that will have worn the Generals uniform after playing for Lovell Hockey. Jonny joins Lovell Hockey standouts: Alex Cohen (Union College), Brian Chambers (UMASS Lowell), Matt Demelis (Northeastern), Tim Weinstein (Trinity), Shawn Montgomery (Suffolk), Brady Gaudette (Maine), Matt Rutigliano (Skidmore), Mike Higgins (Holy Cross), Colin McCabe (Conn College), Stephen Davis (BC), Timothy Lovell (BC) and current Generals, Cam Gaudette, Ryan Kuzmich, Jack Ring (UNH), Charlie Reid, Joey Larossa and Captain Joe Nagle.
