Feb 19, 2024

The Generals continued their road travels in the month of February with a visit to New Jersey to take on the Titans. The Generals split the final road trip in the short month, winning game one on Friday, Feb. 16 5-2, before falling on Saturday, Feb. 17 3-1.

Friday saw the Generals get the jump on the titans early, scoring four minutes thanks to recent NAHL forward tender Jaden Sikura to make it 1-0 in his first game in navy and orange. Neither team found any traction for the remainder of the first, before Northeast’s offense exploded in the second period. Forwards Joseph McGraw and Ben Campeau both scored, with McGraw scoring only a minute into the period before Campeau followed up less than 40 seconds later to make it 3-0. Forward Frank D’Ancona potted a goal five minutes in to make it a quick 4-0, before forward Sixten Jennersjo found his own two and a half minutes later to make it 5-0.

Both offenses cooled off till early in the third, with the Titans finding two of their own only four minutes in to bring the score to 5-2. The Generals defense shut down any last second attempts from the Titans though, collecting the win for game one.

Goaltender Peter Wickström-Stumer got the first start of the weekend, stopping 37 of the 39 shots he faced in the victory. D’Ancona and defenseman Brendan Kimball both recorded three point nights, with Kimball picking up three assists and D’Ancona collecting two apples to pair with his goal. Sikura’s goal is his first in the NAHL.

Game two saw the Titans jump ahead early in the second period after a relatively quiet first period to make it 1-0 only two minutes into the second frame. Forward Andrew Delladonna found the lone Generals goal in the game, scoring a little under nine minutes into the contest to bring the game to a 1-1 tie. The Titans responded 30 seconds later to make it 2-1, which stood until the final thirty seconds in the contest, where the Titans potted the empty netter to make it 3-1. The Generals tried to mount the comeback, but were unable to muster the scoring, leaving the game at 3-1 in favor of New Jersey.

Goaltender Toby Hopp received the start for the second night, batting away 38 of the 40 shots he faced in a high volume evening. Delldonna’s goal was assisted by forward Jacob Wilson and Jennersjo, with Jennersjo now up to a league high 55 assists to lead the Generals in points this season.

The Generals will return to the New England Sports Village for the first time in the month of February, where they will host the Johnstown Tomahawks in the team’s final series this month. Those games will take place on Friday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 PM EST, and Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2:00 PM EST respectively.
