Dec 11, 2023

The Generals split their home series against the New Jersey Titans over the weekend, falling 5-0 on Friday, Dec. 8, before bouncing back with a 4-1 win on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Game one saw neither team finding the back of the net until the second period, where the Titans scored three throughout the period to jump ahead 3-0 through two periods of play. Northeast was not able to get the offense going in the first game of the series, with New Jersey scoring two more in the third period, resulting in the 5-0 loss. Goaltender Toby Hopp was tagged with the loss, stopping 33 of the 38 shots he faced, as the Generals were outshot 30-to-38.

Game two saw the offense flair to life early in the game. The power play units put the Generals ahead early, with forwards Jake Gutwirth and Sixten Jennersjo scoring powerplay goals to jump ahead 2-0 only seven minutes into the game. It was their sixth and seventh goals of the season respectively. Forward Jacob Wilson, who assisted on the two earlier powerplay goals, joined in with his fifth goal of the season a minute and a half into the second period to put the Generals ahead 3-0 through two. The Titans finally responded with a powerplay goal early in the third, but the Generals shut down the Titans offense for the rest of the contest, and with the goalie pulled, forward Ryan Remick potted his team leading 16th goal to give Northeast the 4-1 victory.

Wilson led the Generals in points with three, tallying two power play assists and an even strength goal. Goaltender Peter Wickström-Stumer stepped into the crease Generals for game two, saving 37 of 88 shots for his fourth win of the season since joining Northeast from Kenai River in November.

The Generals will stay home for their next game, as the New England Sports Village will host the Danbury Hat Tricks for the first time since mid October. The Hat Tricks will come to visit Tuesday, Dec. 12, in the Generals final home game in the month of December. The team will take a break for the Holidays before returning to action on the road against the Johnstown Tomahawks for a weekend series on Saturday, Dec. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 31.
